About Me

Dr. Jiawei Li (李嘉伟) received his Software Engineering Ph.D. at University of California, Irvine, supervised by Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed at STAIRS lab. He received his Master’s degree in Computer Science at University of California, Irvine, and his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University. He is currently an Applied Scientist on Amazon Customer Services Data Intelligence AI team.

Research Interests

His academic research interests mainly lie in the application of machine learning, large language models to the automation of Software Engineering (SWE)-related tasks such as commit message quality evaluation, commit message generation, AI-generated code detection, defect prediction, code review and more. He is also interested in coding agent’s memory and behavior.

    • Designed an automated approach incorporating LLMs, Embedding Models, and Knowledge Graphs to evaluate an agentic LLM-powered chatbot, including its intermediate logic flow and final response.
    • Designed a heuristic-based LLM-powered approach based on LLM’s interpretation confidence to evaluate the quality of the human-written queries.
